Skin Toner

Here are some useful methods and products to take care of your skin. To keep your skin healthy we apply skin moisturizers, skin cream, facial etc. One of the important solution to be used on skin is the skin toner. Yes, there are some disputes on using a toner amoung ourselves. In cosmetic as medical terms toner is nothing but lotion, its main purpose of using toner is to cleanse the skin and reduce the size of pores, toners are usually applied on face. Some people prefer to use water instead of using toner, though water is also an important ingreadient of toner. There are different ways and methods of applying toner either we use a cotton ball damped with the toner and clean the face or we use a vaporizer spraying it on the face or any other method. Usually after applying the moisturiser once the toner dries up.

There are different types of skin toners available. Some of them are skin freshner, skin astringents and skin tonics. Each of these toner types should be used according to the skin type. Depending on the skin type one should select the toner. Most of these toner contains same ingredients but in different proportions.

Skin freshners are made up of humectant for example glycerine and water. Some skin freshners contain no alcohol or very little percentage of alcohol. Humectants are required to keep the skin moist and lock the moisture within the skin. This moisture on your skin makes your skin soft. An example of skin freshner is rosewater. Skin freshners are very mild and can be used by dry or dehydrated skin.

Skin tonics are again made up of same ingrediants as mentioned above but the only difference is there is a small amount of alcohol is also added to the tonic. An example of such tonic is orange flower water. Such skin tonics can be used by people having normal, oily or combination type of skin.

Astringent are the strong form of toners. These contain high proportion of alcohol. Astringent as skin toners need to be applied or used depending on the prescription given by your dermatologist. These astrigent can be applied on oily skin. There could be a chain reaction after applying such astringent. Your body can generate more oil on the skin thinking that your skin is losing moisture and this may even look worst. It is better to apply such astringent on specific areas and spots. An example of an astringent is witch hazel.
